Movie Clip Wednesday – Oscar Winners.

I chose a random year -- 1969.  It didn’t win best picture (that was Midnight Cowboy), but John Wayne picked up an Oscar for Best Actor by playing Rooster Cogburn in True Grit
The scene I picked was the gunfight … some classic Robert Duvall, but a more classic John Wayne line …. “Fill your hands, you son-of-a-bitch”.

Since I got blogjinxed:  Here’s another entry:  Sissy Spacek – Best Actress in 1980 for Coal Miner’s Daughter.  Cheesy bio movie … yes.  But who doesn’t love Sissy in this?  And Tommy Lee Jones as Doo?

Hah! Too funny, the way you are always jinxing! I like the addition of Coal Miner's Daughter – one of my favorite movies and favorite Spacek performances. Happy MCW on a Tuesday!

I don't know how I went unscathed this week. You did go with a western so it was a close call. I really thought you were going with Forrest Gump. I said everything about TG over at the Madmans. And Coal Miner's Daughter - ehh. Sissy Spacek needs to be covered in blood. Just saying...

Happy MCW!

bwahahahahaha - you may have a new job as one of those phone psychics?

Both are great picks and I was surprised to read at J.Cake's just how many great movies were made in 1969. I am going to watch this movie again this weekend. It's been 41 years and I'm thinking a little John Wayne AND Robert Duvall and Dennis Hopper might be a great watch. Thanks for playing and Happy MCW. :-)

Somebody picked True Grit? We almost had a TRIPLE blog-jynx cause I condidered it. I also had the idea that "The Searchers" won some Oscars but I was wrong.

Great selection!
The Duke rocked!

Good afternoon Pam,

That jinx was nearly a 4-way.

I didn't think Sissy Spacek could carrie off Coal Miner's Daughter. By the time I walked out of the theater, my mind was changed and I was duly impressed.
